The return of preventive measures. As the Covid-19 resurfaced in France in August, the Arcachon hospital center in Gironde announced on Thursday that it was restoring the wearing of compulsory masks throughout the establishment.
“Due to the upsurge in the number of Covid-19 cases among the establishment’s staff and certain patients, wearing a mask is made compulsory for everyone throughout the establishment as of this day”, indicated the hospital in a statement.
One visitor per room
Indeed, a slight increase in cases of contaminationand visits to the emergency room for suspected virus infection, were observed by the Oscour network (Organization for coordinated emergency surveillance).
“It’s a preventive measure. As we are in a small seaside town, the idea is to protect our care capacities at this time when the hospital is full”, explained to Actu Bordeaux Julien Rossignol, the structural director. According to him, a dozen patients and a dozen staff members are currently infected with the virus that has caused a global health crisis in recent years.
In addition, the hospital has decided to limit visits “to one masked person per room, except for palliative care patients”, as the press release specifies. A measure justified by the director of the hospital center, to the Parisian, by the number of tourists present in the region visiting patients. “The problem is that sometimes there are four or five of them in the room and they take the mask off once they’re there.”
