These Internet users think they are protecting their personal data with this publication. But this message is completely useless. And it has no legal value. If you share this post, nothing will change for you or your Facebook account. If you don’t share it, nothing will change either.

Only the general conditions, which you accepted by registering on Facebook – but certainly without reading them – unite you with Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram or Whatsapp. They state that you authorize Facebook to “host, use, distribute, modify, perform, copy, publicly perform or publicly display, translate and create derivative works of your content (in accordance with your privacy and application settings)”.

Facebook launches a paid offer

In fact, the mass distribution of this message corresponds to the launch of the paid offer from Facebook and Instagram. Meta must comply with new European regulations: le Digital Market Act (DMA). Up to 12.99 euros per month

If you opt for the paid subscription, you will have to pay a fixed amount of €12.99 per month until March 1, 2024. From March 1, the amount will be €12.99 per month for an account then €8 per month for each additional Facebook or Instagram account. Using Facebook and Instagram will therefore cost more than €20 per month. On a desktop computer, the monthly price is reduced to €10. Are Internet users really ready to pay? Not so sure…
