A Meta today announced new features aimed at Reels from Facebook. According to the company, the functions were designed to make discovering and customizing video recommendations easier and are now available to all users.
The main novelty is in the options displayed in the “hidden” menu in the ellipsis, arranged at the bottom right of the video. From now on, the social network will display two alternatives — “Show more” e “Show less” —, which can also be seen at the bottom of Reels.
As with other Facebook publications, selecting the “Show more” option will cause the platform to increase the score to suggest similar content to the user. The option “Show less” decreases the score for the subjects, consequently showing fewer similar videos.
We want Reels to reflect your interests — to help you explore what you love now, as well as help you discover interests, creators, and communities you’ll love in the future. […] By capturing your direct feedback, we can make Reel Sorting smarter and more in tune with your preferences.
Another novelty is the arrival of contextual labels (contextual labels, in free translation). The function of these labels, according to Meta itself, is to explain why a user is watching a Reel – such as why a friend liked that same video, for example.
Mark Zuckerberg’s company also said it added Reels to the main navigation at the top of Facebook Watch, aiming for quick access to them. In this way, it will facilitate the discovery of creators, trends and content of interest to the user. Finally, when watching videos on Facebook, it is now possible to come across Reels and longer videos.
