A bug in the application, now fixed, caused automatic actions for some users.

A friend request sent without your knowledge, at the slightest visit to a profile. This is the strange bug revealed last week by Facebook users. Tech journalist Olivier Cragg even proved the phenomenon in a video posted on Twitter on May 12. The latter types the name of a user in the search bar of the social network, clicks on the profile and in less than 2 seconds, the small blue button “Add a friend“becomes”Request sent”, without any intervention from the journalist.

A strange phenomenon that would be due to a bug “related to a recent app update”, explained Meta, the parent company of the social network, in the followingmath. Before adding:We have prevented this issue from occurring and apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused”.

However, the origin of the bug and its extent have not been specified. It is therefore possible that your previous visits have turned into friend requests. To be sure, place your cursor in the search bar and go to the different profiles you are looking for. The blue button under the profile picture will tell you the status of the request.
