Perhaps one of the oldest idealizations – even before something starts to be developed and generate rumors – in relation to smartphones is an engineering that manages to insert all the components under the screen, so that the front of the device is entirely the display.
Since the iPhone X, we’ve been getting closer and closer to that reality. With the most recent iPhones, basically the only obstacle that still prevents the front of the devices from being completely occupied by the screen is the front camera and the sensors of the TrueDepth system, referring to Face ID.
After the registration of a patent related to fitting the components that make the feature possible under the screen, some rumors emerged covering the possibility that the “iPhone 16 Pro” already brings Face ID sensors below the display. New information, however, showed that we should wait a little longer until Apple manages to develop such an iPhone.
According to the display chain analyst Ross Youngwe will only see an iPhone with Face ID under the screen in 2025 or laterdue to difficulties involving the sensor.
Despite representing a step forward, it is undeniable that the notch has users rooting for its end since it was born, with the iPhone X. In any case, it would also be a big step towards a “futuristic” look, in which the engineering of the device’s components hides them in favor of a more clean.
Let’s keep following the advances in this field!
