A woman from Singapore was found to be expensive for producing a fake medical certificate.

According to a foreign media report, a Singapore-based Chinese female software developer was fined $5,000 for forging a medical certificate to take 9 days off.

According to the report, Su Qin wanted to take time off to care for her ailing mother and herself, but was worried about damaging her work reputation.

Su Kun created a fake medical certificate using photoshop to avoid a bad impression from his work. He amended an old certificate by changing the hospital name, date and duration as per his desired leave from March 23 to April 3, 2024.

Boss’s request program, woman fired for not bringing eggs and coffee

The female employee tried to hide the QR code on her fake medical certificate but failed. The process allowed Su Qin to take a leave of absence from work, during which he was paid $3,531.

The fraud was discovered by the company’s HR department after the woman took a break from work on April 4. Because the QR code in the medical certificate was blurred which increased their suspicion.

When the woman was asked about the original certificate, she allegedly produced another fake medical certificate with a different QR code and submitted it on April 8.

The employee died shortly after her request for sick leave was rejected

The company later fired the employee and the HR head filed a police case against Soo Kun. Another revelation about the woman came out in the inquiry that she had also forged her mother’s death certificate to go back to China as she was taking care of her ailing mother.

The report further stated that Kin was ordered to pay a fine of $5,000 on charges of forgery. His lawyer called for his release, saying he acted out of desperation to support his elderly parents, who depend on him as their sole provider.
