Fabio Scherer: Thanks for having me! The DTM is a fantastic series with unbelievable competition. After my experience in 2020, I knew I wanted another shot. When the possibility with Haupt Racing Team and the Ford Mustang GT3 came along,it was an easy decision. The team’s ambition, combined with the iconic Mustang, was a package I couldn’t resist.

Fabio Scherer: It’s an amazing experience.The Mustang has such a rich history in motorsports. Driving the GT3 version is a thrill. It’s powerful,responsive,and demands a lot from the driver. it’s a fantastic blend of raw power and precision handling, which makes it a joy to drive, especially on tracks like those we encounter in DTM.
Archyde News: The Oschersleben test day seems to have been a productive one. How did it compare to your experiences in 2020? Furthermore, what aspects of the testing did you focus on to optimize the new car?
Fabio Scherer: This time around, the focus was on getting comfortable with the car immediately and understanding its systems fully. In 2020, everything was new. At Oschersleben,we worked on everything as we wanted to make sure the handling and setup were optimized for DTM-specific tracks. we tested various setups, working closely with the engineers to fine-tune the Ford Mustang GT3 to my driving style.

Fabio Scherer: Obviously, the key objective is to be competitive. The DTM is tough, with a field of incredibly talented drivers and well-funded teams. My goal, alongside Arjun maini, is to consistently fight for points, aim for podium finishes, and hopefully, challenge for race wins. It’s a long season, and the early wins can provide a great boost.
