Monster Energy Yamaha RACER Fabio Quartararo emphasized that he is determined to make a comeback in the Spanish GP at the Jerez International Circuit, this weekend.

Quartararo recorded poor results in the American GP series at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), Austin, Texas, following finishing 12th.

“Basically, the weekend (at the American GP) is a time where we try a lot of things. I think this is good for (increasing) our experience,” said Quartararo in Yamaha’s official statement, Tuesday (23/4).

“We know what we need (on the motorbike) and have a clear work direction. I think that is something positive,” he continued.

The French racer said that the series of sessions and races at the American GP were an opportunity to try many things for him and the team, including finding more appropriate settings.

“We focused on improving the bike, and I started racing on a motorbike I had never tried before,” said Quartararo.

Yamaha Team Director Masssimo Meregalli admitted that he was not satisfied with the performance of the two racers and their motorbikes.

Even though the race was challenging, Meregalli said it made the team productive because it collected a lot of important data related to motorbike development.

“We’ve been trying new things, and this data will help us prepare for changes in the future,” Meregalli said.

He hopes that the efforts made by his team following the American GP will become the foundation for his two racers to look positively at the Spanish MotoGP.

“Now that we have gained further insight, we will regroup and define our strategy for Jerez (this weekend),” he said.

The Spanish GP will roll out this weekend. The first free practice session (FP1) and respective training sessions were held on Friday (26/4) at 15.30 WIB and 20.00 WIB.

The next day, Saturday (27/4), there will be FP2 sessions, qualifying and Sprint races, respectively at 15.00 WIB, 16.00 WIB and 20.00 WIB.

The main race at the Jerez Circuit will be held on Sunday (28/4) at 19.00 WIB, and a day later on Monday (29/4) an official MotoGP test will be held. (Ant/Z-1)
