FABIO Quartararo has decided to stay with Yamaha for the 2025 MotoGP season and has withdrawn from the rider market.
But Quartararo’s decision to stay at Yamaha is starting to have an impact on the 2025 grid, as Aprilia eyes the 2021 world champion.
Quartararo, should he go to Aprilia, would leave the door open for Jorge Martin to potentially become a Yamaha factory rider.
Instead, Martin signed with Aprilia after he was told by Ducati that they would choose Marc Marquez over him.
However, regarding his own future, Quartararo has confirmed his reasons for choosing Yamaha.
“I extended my contract with Yamaha because I believe in this project,” Quartararo said, quoted by Crash, (30/7).

“I had the opportunity to move to another team, but my loyalty to Yamaha is very big and Yamaha is also very loyal to me.”
“Moreover, my wishes have been heard. We have to wait and see how the next two years go. Then it’s time to make a new decision.”
The improvements Yamaha made in 2024 are clear to see, and one of them is the change in mentality that occurred.

“Good project, good people, different mentality, decisions taken not in three or four months, but quickly,” said Quartararo.
“I want people who have worked with other manufacturers and have experience with other bikes.”
“Yamaha gave me everything I asked for. This is a good reason to stay.”
