Fabio Di Giannantonio’s Last Race at MotoGP Thailand 2024: A Farewell to the Season

Jakarta

Fabio Di Giannantonio will end the season MotoGP 2024 after the race in Buriram. The Italiano wants to close this year’s competition on a sweet note.

Shoulder injury makes rider Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing TeamAt Giannantonio, get on the operating table. The rider with number 49 has decided not to take part in the last two races of this season: MotoGP Malaysia and MotoGP Valencia.

In the first free practice session of MotoGP Thailand 2024, Diggia was in 13th position. His teammate Marco Bezzecchi was the fastest rider with a time of one minute 30.492 seconds.

During the 2024 Thailand MotoGP practice session, Diggia was in 16th position. In order to be optimal in the sprint race and main race in the Thailand MotoGP, Diggia had to work hard during the qualifying session.

“It was going to be the last race of the year for me with the whole team and we got there with a great result at the Australian GP,” said Diggia in a release received detikSport.

“It will be different, in terms of track layout, more stops and go compared to Phillip Island, also the weather. I hope to get to the same level and be close to the best race and the best finish this year.”

“This will mean fighting for the podium and I will achieve my goal. There is still work to be done. But, Buriram is a friendly track,” he added.

With the Buriram circuit’s stop and go character, it is believed that Bezzecchi and Diggia will be able to achieve maximum results.

“The performance of the two Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team racers in Australia shows how Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio are very competitive on fast track conditions. In Thailand the GP which will take place at the Buriram Circuit, will of course have a different character. Last year Marco appeared very competitive and “almost on the podium at this circuit. Meanwhile, Fabio was still able to finish in the top 10,” said Werry Prayogi, as Director of Pertamina Lubricant.

“This year, of course, Pertamina Lubricant is the main supporter of this team and all fans from Indonesia are very optimistic that both of them can appear competitive. Unfortunately, this will be Fabio’s farewell race for the 2024 season. He has to return to Italy to undergo surgery before starting the 2025 racing season and as much as possible “Maybe we can take part in the Winter Test session after the last series in Valencia,” he added.

Diggia’s Last Dance at Buriram: Hope, Hurdles, and Hilarious Farewells!

JakartaFabio Di Giannantonio, affectionately known as “Diggia,” is all set to wrap up his MotoGP 2024 season at the Buriram race. Why the rush to tie things up? Well, folks, let’s just say a pesky shoulder injury has him vying for a spot on the operating table rather than the podium. It’s the kind of plot twist you never saw coming, unless you were at a bad rom-com marathon!

But here’s the kicker: Diggia’s decided to skip the last two races—MotoGP Malaysia and MotoGP Valencia. Now, that’s a decision even the best Netflix serendipity couldn’t script! He claims it’s all for a sweet send-off in Thailand, where the circuit’s unique “stop and go” layout could either propel him to greatness or have him playing a not-so-fun game of “tag, you’re it” with the competition!

In the initial free practice session, “Diggia” clocked in at 13th, while his fellow teammate Marco Bezzecchi was busy making everyone else look like they were stuck in traffic. What’s that? A one-minute thirty-point four-nine-two second lap? Mate, at this rate, even my grandma could lap that in her mobility scooter—after a coffee, of course!

During the practice for the Thailand MotoGP, Diggia found himself in the 16th position. Certainly not a great seat for the show, but let’s hope he pulls a rabbit out of the hat during qualifying. “It will be different,” he emphasized, as if trying to convince himself he’s not just there for the scenery. Buriram offers more twists and turns than a soap opera writer on caffeine, making it a uniquely challenging track.

He confessed, “It’s going to be my last race of the year with the whole team.” The anguish in his voice almost had me tearing up—almost! This isn’t just any race; it’s a farewell that even a three-part movie sequel couldn’t top. He’s determined to finish strong, “fighting for the podium,” because why not aim for the moon when there’s a perfectly good podium up for grabs?

Looking confident, Diggia added, “Buriram is a friendly track.” Well, let’s hope his friendly neighbor isn’t the one competing against him, or he might find himself on the wrong end of a friendly rivalry!

Werry Prayogi, Director of Pertamina Lubricant, chimed in to fuel our hopes. He highlighted the competitive nature of both Fabios and Marco, noting that last year’s performance had Diggia finishing in the top ten while Bezzecchi was *almost* on the podium. So close yet so far, like my attempts at socializing during the Monday morning coffee break!

As fans and journalists alike gear up for this emotional ride, it’s worth noting that this could be Diggia’s last hurrah before he makes a hasty retreat to Italy for surgery. Let’s hope he scrapes together one last burst of competitive spirit for this showdown, even if it means dodging through the paddock like it’s a game of dodgeball. And who knows, with any luck, he might even pit stop just when people START to notice him—talk about a strategic move!

So, here’s raising our helmets for Diggia as he revs up for his last outing. May he leave the track in Buriram with memories to last a lifetime—preferably better than those of picking out wallpaper!

Fabio Di Giannantonio will conclude his participation in the MotoGP 2024 season after the upcoming race in Buriram, where the Italian rider aims to finish the year on a high note.

The talented rider from the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team faces a challenging season-ending due to a shoulder injury that necessitates surgery. As a result, Di Giannantonio, known affectionately as Diggia, has opted to sit out the final two races slated for MotoGP Malaysia and MotoGP Valencia.

This pivotal race in Thailand, scheduled for October 25-27, 2024, will serve as Di Giannantonio’s final opportunity to race this season. With the objective of going all out, he is set to give it his best shot in Buriram.

In the inaugural free practice session for the MotoGP Thailand 2024, Diggia clocked in at 13th position, while his teammate Marco Bezzecchi led the pack with an impressive time of one minute 30.492 seconds.

During the subsequent practice session, Diggia secured the 16th position. To achieve an optimal performance in both the sprint and main races at the Thailand MotoGP, he recognizes the necessity of putting in hard work during the crucial qualifying session.

“This race marks my final event of the year with the entire team, and I arrived here buoyed by a solid result at the Australian GP,” he shared in a statement received by detikSport.

“The dynamics will be different here; the track features more stop-and-go sections compared to Phillip Island, not to mention the variable weather conditions. My goal is to perform at the same level and contend closely with the leaders in what I hope will be my best race and finish of the season.”

“Achieving that means striving for a podium finish, and I’m committed to reaching that goal. There is still work ahead, but the Buriram circuit is quite accommodating,” he added.

Considering the stop-and-go nature of the Buriram circuit, fans and analysts are hopeful that both Bezzecchi and Diggia can secure remarkable results.

“The performance of both Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team riders in Australia showcased their competitiveness on fast track conditions. However, the Thailand GP at the Buriram Circuit will present its own unique challenges. Last year, Marco was incredibly close to podium placement at this circuit, while Fabio managed to secure a top 10 finish,” commented Werry Prayogi, Director of Pertamina Lubricant.

“This year, Pertamina Lubricant proudly sponsors the team, instilling a sense of optimism among fans from Indonesia that both riders will showcase their competitiveness. Unfortunately, this will be Fabio’s farewell for the 2024 season, as he must return to Italy for surgery before the 2025 racing season begins. However, we remain hopeful that he might participate in the Winter Test sessions post the final series in Valencia,” he added.
