Lando Norris took pole position for Saturday’s Italian Formula One Grand Prix at Monza, ahead of his McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri. Max Verstappen finished “only” seventh, while Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon did not appear in the top ten.

This summer, I am full of energy, A week after taking pole position at the Dutch Formula 1 Grand Prix, Lando Norris (McLaren) regains his starting position at the Italian Grand Prix. In qualifying at the legendary Monza circuit, the Briton improved his time in the third quarter (1:19.327) to secure the lead. He became the first McLaren driver to win two consecutive pole positions since 2012 and the successor to Lewis Hamilton. As well as this statistic, the British manufacturer is also delighted with other promoters.

Australian Oscar Piastri was fastest, trailing Lando Norris (+0.109). The two teammates will form a 100% McLaren front row ahead of George Russell (Mercedes). Although his partner Lewis Hamilton has dominated the past two free practice sessions, the former world champion ended up finishing sixth behind both Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz . But where is Max Verstappen (Red Bull)? The Dutchman got into trouble and blamed his car’s lack of grip, finishing seventh.

Gasly and Ocon finished 14th and 15th respectively

The reigning world champion will join his teammate Sergio Perez in the fourth row. The top ten were completed by Alexander Albon (Williams Racing) and Nico Hulkenberg (Haas Racing). As for the French, Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon (Alpine Racing) posted their worst results of the second quarter, equivalent to 14th and 15th positions on the starting line. Ahead of them are 13th to 11th place: Kevin Magnussen (Haas), Daniel Ricciardo (Alfa Tauri) and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin).

Williams Racing’s Franco Colapinto suffered a deep scare on the final lap of Q1 and was unable to finish the race. The Argentine will start this Sunday at Monza in 18th place (the Grand Prix starts at 3pm).
