F1: Charles Leclerc on pole ahead of Max Verstappen at Le Castellet – rts.ch

Charles Leclerc will start in pole position during the French GP on the Castellet circuit. The Monegasque was 0”304 ahead of the leader of the F1 world championship, the Dutchman Max Verstappen, 2nd in qualifying.

Second in the general classification with 38 lengths behind his great rival, Charles Leclerc (24) signed the 16th pole of his career, the 7th already this season. He was able to get in the wake of his teammate Carlos Sainz on his last flying lap to take full advantage of the slipstream.

Sergio Perez (3rd) and Lewis Hamilton (4th) will start on the 2nd row on the starting grid for this 12th of the 22 rounds of the 2022 world championship. The 3rd row will be occupied by two Britons, Lando Norris (5th) and George Russell (6th).

Bottas 11th on the grid

The drivers of the Alfa Romeo-Ferrari team have not signed any exploits. The Finn Valtteri Bottas was eliminated in Q2, then signing the 13th time. He will start in 11th position, Carlos Sainz (9th in qualifying) and Kevin Magnussen (10th) being forced to start at the back of the grid. Chinese Zhou Guanyu (16th on the grid) was eliminated in Q1.
