Ferrari’s Leclerc Reflects on the Season, Looks Ahead to a Promising Future
“We had a very solid season, even though it’s clear McLaren had a better car throughout the year, but overall I am very satisfied.” The Monegasque driver, Charles Leclerc, dissected the 2023 season, highlighting Ferrari’s ability to secure valuable points despite the challenges they faced. “In difficult times, we managed to bring back important points even if the performance wasn’t always there. That’s why we’re now in a position to fight for the constructors’ championship. We need to be proud no matter what happens.”
Preparing for the Constructors’ Championship
Leclerc acknowledges the challenging task ahead regarding the constructors’ championship.
“It’s still playable,” he reveals. “We’re not going to lie, we’re going to need a bit of luck. We need to do a very good job and we need McLaren to have a little more trouble. We can’t know what they will do, but on the other hand, we can try to control what we do and at least try to give everything to try and win this championship and finish first (for the constructors’) and second (for the drivers’). I still believe in it, even if it will be very difficult, it’s still possible.”
A Second Place Finish in Itself
When asked if snag-ging second place in the Drivers’ Championship was a goal, Leclerc quickly clarified. “Not necessarily, but it’s a result that will happen naturally if we manage to achieve the first objective. If I win on Sunday, it will help me to get very close to that second place so I have to try to do the best job possible.”
Ferrari on the Upswing
The Ferrari driver is optimistic about the future of the Scuderia. “Ah yes, I believe 200%. If there is a team that will become world champions in the coming years, I really think it’s Ferrari.
We’re in the best possible position and it’s thanks to Fred (Frédéric Vasseur, the boss of the Scuderia), thanks to the people who are in the team and those who are in the process of joining it and strengthening it.”
The Monegasque emphasizes Vasseur’s impact: ”
What has Vasseur brought? He brought a lot. Fred brought his mentality and that in a team like Ferrari is not easy. Fred has exceptional composure and I think that was really the number one thing that we had to change at Ferrari. He doesn’t let himself be disturbed by everything around the team and that helps us enormously today.”
The driver expressed his readiness for the upcoming season, stating, “I feel ready. I would be extremely happy to have the car to do that. We are working extremely well so I am confident we will be in a better position. Afterwards, it always depends; we don’t necessarily know what car Red Bull or McLaren will have next year. It’s difficult to judge.”
The Thrill of Beyond
Ferrari is not the only thing on Leclerc’s mind.
“Of course with Lewis it’s going to be crazy because he’s a driver who is incredibly talented. He’s the most successful driver in Formula 1 and
therefore for me to be able to compete against him in the same car, it will be a great challenge I can’t wait to learn from Lewis but also be able to show what I can do next to him.”
Additionally, the unity with his brother adds another dimension of excitement. “
It’s crazy because it’s always been a dream of course for us and also for my father. The whole family will come, so it will

What is Charles Leclerc’s outlook for Ferrari’s future in Formula 1?
## Interview with Charles Leclerc
**(Host):** Thanks for joining us, Charles. The 2023 season has been quite a rollercoaster for Ferrari. You mentioned it’s been “solid,” but acknowledging McLaren’s dominance throughout the year. Can you elaborate on this?
**(Leclerc):** Absolutely. McLaren definitely had the upper hand this season in terms of car performance. However, what I’m proud of is our team’s resilience. Even when we weren’t the fastest, we managed to secure crucial points, ensuring we’re in a strong position to fight for the Constructors’ Championship. We need to be proud of that, regardless of the final outcome.
**(Host):** Speaking of the Constructors’ Championship, it’s tight right now. Do you believe Ferrari can pull off the win, and what would be the key factors in achieving that?
**(Leclerc):** It won’t be easy, that’s for sure. We’re going to need a combination of good fortune and excellent performance from our side. McLaren has been consistent, so we need them to maybe stumble a bit, and we need to capitalize on every opportunity presented to us. We’ll be giving it our absolute all to finish both first (Constructors’) and second (Drivers’), but we know it will be an uphill battle.
**(Host):** Your performance lately has been strong. Is securing second place in the Drivers’ Championship a target you’re actively aiming for?
**(Leclerc):** Not necessarily a primary target, no. Our main focus is on winning the Constructors’ Championship. If we achieve that, second place in the Drivers’ Championship is likely to follow. Winning this weekend would definitely put me in a stronger position, so that’s my immediate goal.
**(Host):** Looking ahead, Ferrari has shown glimpses of brilliance this season. Are you optimistic about the future of the team and its chances of challenging for the World Championship in the coming years?
**(Leclerc):** Definitely. There’s a clear upward trajectory within the Scuderia. I have complete faith in our team’s ability to develop a championship-winning car. We have the talent, dedication, and resources. I’m confident that Ferrari will be back fighting for that World Championship title very soon.
**(Host):** Thank you for your time, Charles. Best of luck for the rest of the season.
**(Leclerc):** Thank you.
