“F1 Best Driver” criteria defined by Max Verstappen[F1-Gate.com]

Max Verstappen has spoken about the attributes he thinks distinguish the best drivers from the rest in F1.

Reigning F1 world champion Max Verstappen has been quiet, but he is clearly in the elite group himself, with an 80-point lead in the Drivers rankings heading into the restart after the summer break. He is well on his way to defending his title.

Of course, there are currently only 20 F1 drivers, and many more will be looking for seats in the future. But Max Verstappen points out that there are some drivers who actually deserved their spot just because they missed their card.

But Max Verstappen says F1 drivers, who are among the elite few in the world, have certain qualities that set them apart when it comes down to it.

“I think it’s those last few percentages when a driver really does and what makes the difference is in tricky conditions and when you’re really fighting against other teams,” said YouTuber Hugo Max Verstappen. He said in an interview with Decryptor.

“There are so many good drivers in the world and some who are not in Formula 1. They may be driving in endurance races and they are very good too. It just happens to be lucky. Or I couldn’t run in F1 just because it wasn’t.”

“But between the drivers in Formula 1, the good drivers and the very good drivers, you’re there at a very decisive moment, like a rainy race or generally very difficult conditions or a very important qualifying session. “

“That’s when you can make a difference or, for example, score a few more points than your teammate.”

One of Max Verstappen’s 19 rivals is, of course, his teammate Sergio Perez. The combination of the two sees Red Bull Racing lead the Constructors’ Championship with a huge 97-point lead over Ferrari.

Max Verstappen likened the situation at Red Bull Racing to that of two footballers competing for one position in the team.

“It’s the same in football,” said Max Verstappen.

“There are 11 players on the pitch, but there are people on the bench who want that spot.”

“At the end of the day, you work for the team and you want the best possible result. That’s exactly how we do it too.”

“I think we work very well together. We have a good relationship. We can talk about anything even off the track. Sometimes it’s really fun to just talk about other things and not about racing.”

“He (Perez) is a great guy and if the two drivers get along really well, it’s great for the team.”
