F1 2024 Standings – The Championship After the Dutch GP

The orange tide did indeed take place at Zandvoort but for once, it wasn’t Max Verstappen who surfed on it… but Lando Norris! The Briton won the Dutch GP, his second victory of the season after his first success in Miami. A victory that allows him to get closer to the Drivers’ Championship: thanks to his victory and the point for the fastest lap, the McLaren driver is back to 70 points behind the leader Max Verstappen, who limited the damage with a 2nd place at home.

Lando Norris also breaks away from the other drivers in 2nd place in the championship: Charles Leclerc, third at Zandvoort, is now relegated to 33 points behind the Briton. Behind, Oscar Piastri and Carlos Sainz, respectively 4th and 5th in the Dutch GP, are also 4th and 5th in the championship with 179 and 172 points. The only change in the standings: thanks to his 9th place, Pierre Gasly moves up to 14th position with 8 points.

On the constructors’ side, the noose is tightening for Red Bull (434 points), which sees its lead melt away to just 30 points ahead of McLaren (404 points). With Charles Leclerc’s podium, Ferrari (370 points) also remains within reasonable distance of the two leading teams. Disappointing at Zandvoort with the 7th and 8th places of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes (276 points) is now 94 points behind the Italian team. With the two points collected by Pierre Gasly, Alpine increases its total to 13 points and takes a little air ahead of Williams.
