Sylvain Fardot is an actor in a successful TV series, but his character has just died tragically. Already wracked with anxiety, this spoiled child returns to his parents’ house in the countryside. To recharge his batteries, to write an autobiography, to transform himself into Billy Idol too, why not.
If it seems that hell is other people, here, Sylvain, it is hell FOR others. Unable to throw away an empty packet of biscuits because of “after-effects of burnout”he is especially incapable of thinking about his entourage, too busy scrutinizing his navel and his little career. A caricature of the inconsequential and relatively untalented starlet, the anti-hero with sunglasses turns here into the leading role of his own life, in a hyper banal daily life of a small provincial town, which he does not even understand… The idea could have been amusing if the subject went a little beyond simple grotesque farce interspersed with rather hollow silent panels.. Because in the end, apart from this easy mockery of the ravages of celebrity and a few sallies that bring a smile, and despite a drawing as elegant as it is, there is not much left of this album that is read too quickly. Eyes without a face which therefore only deserves a very brief glance.
