Yesterday (11th) at around 5 pm, the police received a report from the staff of a seafood shop at No. 47 Fuk Wing Street, Sham Shui Po, alleging that someone stole an Alaskan longleg crab from the water tank, worth over HK$1,500. The police officers arrived at the scene to investigate and looked at the CCTV footage. They believed that the thief was a middle-aged man. He was wearing a black jacket, jeans and a black mask at the time. The case is temporarily classified as “theft” and has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Team of the Sham Shui Po Police District for follow-up. No one has been arrested yet.
The owner of the seafood shop uploaded the CCTV footage to social media following the incident, and photographed the thief involved in the case walking into the shop as if nothing had happened, and then ran with a long-legged crab in one hand. Later, an employee of a nearby seafood stall noticed something strange regarding the man, and notified the shop owner to pay attention to the stolen crab. According to the closed-circuit television footage, another person was wandering in front of the store at the time of the incident, and it is not ruled out that he was involved in the “watching of the water”. The owner of the store posted on social media, saying that the store has been stolen for the first time since its opening. Now the CCTV footage has been uploaded to the store’s screen for looping playback to remind nearby businesses to be careful regarding losing money.
It is reported that there are many restaurants and seafood shops around the scene, and the thieves are also suspected to have committed crimes in other shops. Mr. Liang, who runs a seafood restaurant on Fuhua Street, revealed that expensive seafood has been stolen from his shop, and his appearance is similar to that of the thieves this time. I believe he is a repeat offender. Among them, goods were stolen four times on the 6th, 7th, and 10th of this month. I had deliberately placed expensive lobsters in higher water tanks. Unexpectedly, if the thief still had a “wall ladder”, he was stolen this month. He committed the crime once more on the 10th and has lost regarding 3,000 yuan so far.
