However, there are still smaller forest and bush fires, on Tuesday in Crete and in the Attica region near the capital Athens, among other places, as the fire department announced on Twitter. According to initial estimates by the authorities, a good 43,000 hectares of forest, bush land and agricultural land have been destroyed by the flames in Greece in the past four weeks. In many places, villages were evacuated as a precaution, and ten days ago on Rhodes, a good 19,000 tourists had to be brought to safety from hotels.
