The weather will be hot with high temperatures for the season from Sunday to Tuesday, according to the forecast of meteo.gr of the National Observatory of Athens which was released today Friday (29.03.24).
According to meteo.gr, the atmospheric circulation over Europe in the coming days will favor the transfer of extremely warm for the season gas masses from Africa to Eastern Europe and our country with the peak expected on the three-day Sunday (31.03. 24) – Tuesday (02.04.24).
Using the temperature deviation at the isobaric level of 850 hPa (regarding 1,500 meters above sea level), a level we use to track air masses, air masses over parts of Eastern Europe are expected to be up to 17-18 degrees Celsius higher than the normal levels for the season.
As can be seen in the graph below, where we focus on our region, we notice that on Monday followingnoon the air masses over our country will be up to 15-16 degrees Celsius higher than the normal levels for the season.
Surface temperatures and how high they will reach will depend on many factors such as cloud cover and wind, however on today’s data the temperature at the start of next week is likely to approach or even exceed 30 degrees Celsius in parts of the mainland.
