He is missing in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department.

Émile S.’s grandparents called the police on July 8, 2023 following losing sight of their grandson.

On July 10, the search for the two-year-old was expanded.

Several mountain specialists, search dogs and helicopters are currently looking for the child.

Many villagers are also involved in the search.

The boy can walk very well for his age, says the mayor. “Perhaps he might already cover a large distance.” Voice messages from his mother are now supposed to lure him out of hiding.

Émile (2) is still missing in France.

A search operation was unsuccessful.

Now the search is stopped.

In France, the army and gendarmerie have been on a large-scale search for one since the weekend missing two-year-old set. Prosecutor Rémy Avon announced on Thursday that the search teams would no longer be sent out. The search operation in the French foothills might not solve the mystery of why little Émile had disappeared. The boy was last seen on Saturday in the small hamlet of Haut-Vernet.

Heat as another risk factor

However, the investigation into the missing persons case is ongoing, Avon added. For this purpose, “a significant amount of information and elements” collected during the four-day search would be analyzed.

On Tuesday, the prosecutor warned that following a period of 48 hours, given the child’s young age and the current severe heat of up to 35 degrees, the life of the two-year-old was “very much in danger”.

Grandparents saw him last

The uncertain fate of Émile keeps the whole country in suspense. Dozens of soldiers and gendarmes were involved in the search, who used sniffer dogs and were supported by a helicopter. According to the authorities, 30 buildings, twelve vehicles and twelve hectares of land were searched. In addition, 25 people were interviewed.

The toddler had stayed with his grandparents. Neighbors last saw it alone in an alley in the hamlet near Digne-les-Bains on Saturday.
