Extensive police operation in the European district on Monday evening in Brussels: a sale of luxury watches goes wrong, two men arrested

Two people were arrested during a search operation which took place in the European quarter on Monday evening, the Brussels public prosecutor’s office confirmed on Tuesday.

This Monday evening, the police had cordoned off the district of rue Boduognat, because they feared that several armed suspects had taken refuge in a building, following an incident which had occurred a little earlier in the evening, towards 6 p.m.

This Tuesday, the prosecution gives more information on the nature of the operation. “According to the first elements of the investigation, the facts took place in the underground garage of a building on rue Boduognat, in which two people were allegedly assaulted and then kidnapped, before the suspects fled. A firearm fire would have been used. The facts seem to be part of the context of a sale of second-hand luxury watches. The victims managed to free themselves and alert neighbors, who called the police “indicates the Brussels public prosecutor’s office.

Two suspects arrested

Following this incident, an important device was set up to search for these armed suspects. Several police teams arrived at the scene. The prosecution indicates that the operation ended around 11:40 p.m. Two suspects were arrested during the evening. They are two men aged 33 and 39. The investigation is ongoing.
