A vast police operation in the bars of Greater Montreal began Thursday evening.

Thus, since Thursday evening, 15 police forces have visited many establishments in Greater Montreal as part of the CENTAURE strategy, which aims to fight once morest the trafficking of illegal firearms by organized crime.

“On Friday, more than 100 police officers visited more than sixty licensed establishments,” said Catherine Bernard, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

As part of this operation, the police also carried out roadside checks in the regions of Montreal, Laval, the South Shore and the North Shore.

“The operation should continue Saturday evening,” said Sergeant Bernard.
