The Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM) is extending its yellow alert for slippery conditions until Monday morning for part of the territory. The warning, initially planned until Sunday evening, is also extended to the provinces of Namur and Luxembourg.
The alert will thus be valid until Monday morning for all of Wallonia, with the exception of Walloon Brabant, as well as the Coast and West Flanders. For the rest of the territory, the warning will end early Sunday night.
The sky will be mostly very cloudy on Sunday followingnoon, according to forecasts from the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM) at midday. An area of precipitation will also continue its path from the west of Belgium towards the Netherlands and Germany. It will mostly be snow or slush.
Precipitation will then turn into rain over the hours, with a slight risk of icy conditions. The province of Luxembourg, on the other hand, will benefit from practically dry weather. The maxima will oscillate between -2°C in the upper Ardennes and 2°C at the sea, under a moderate southerly wind.
On Sunday evening, the area of precipitation will gradually leave the country from the northeast. It will still be snow or sleet, followed by possibly freezing rain. The weather will therefore become temporarily dry once more but will remain cloudy.
In the second part of the night, a new disturbance will affect the west and south-west of Belgium. We must therefore be wary of a new risk of freezing precipitation in the west. Along the French border, some light snowfall will also be possible. The minimums will oscillate between -4°C in Hautes Fagnes and 2°C elsewhere.
On Monday, a new area of sometimes wintry precipitation will quickly invade the country through France. Temperatures will rise slowly to reach 2°C in the Hautes Fagnes and 6°C in the plains at the end of the day. The wind will be moderate to fairly strong, with gusts of 50 to 60 km/h.
