Asuncion, IP Agency.- For the fourth consecutive year, the Paraguay Expylab Immersive Experiences Laboratory is opening a new call for artists and technologists, from August 7 to September 27, 2024.
The main objective of this technological and artistic event is to promote collaborative creation between artists from various disciplines and creative technologists, welcoming applications from urban, rural and indigenous communities throughout Paraguay.
Speaking at the Paraguay TV Tribune, the Executive Director of Expylab, Nicolás Merens, said that artists from all areas (scriptwriters, directors, producers, designers, musicians, sound engineers, photographers, visual artists, performing artists, illustrators, editors, and any area related to artistic creation) can apply. Technologists from all over the country (programmers, developers, technology engineers, etc.) can also apply.
He also mentioned that the call is open to Paraguayans and foreigners residing in Paraguay and announced that the selected people from the interior of the country will receive support with travel and accommodation during the laboratory in Asunción, he assured.

It is worth noting that this year, Expylab will be dedicated to the collective creation of stories from their genesis. Artists and technologists will form teams to create stories that can be told through new immersive media.
In the first week, they will have theoretical and practical classes and will define the ideas to be produced.
From the second week onwards, they will develop the prototype of their projects, which they will present to a jury in a final pitch session in the third week. In this way, the scholarship recipients not only receive training in immersive technologies, but also end up with a product that allows them to continue developing their project after completing the laboratory.
The Expylab – Immersive Experiences Laboratory, is an initiative that fuses technology and art since its creation in 2021.
Its mission is to support emerging and established artists and technologists in the development of projects that use new immersive technologies such as Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Extended Reality.
For three weeks, the selected participants meet at the Alliance Française in Asunción to work on their projects, under the guidance of local and international experts in immersive technology.
In 2023, Expylab was recognized by Meta & BidLab as one of ten communities in Latin America and the Caribbean, among three hundred and seventy, that use virtual and augmented reality to create a social and economic impact.
Expylab 2024 is produced by Expy EAS in co-production with the Alliance Française of Asunción, with the sponsorship of the French Embassy in Paraguay, the National Directorate of Intellectual Property (DINAPI), the French Institute of Argentina and the French Institute of Paris, the Itaú Foundation, with the support of the Culture Funds of the National Secretariat of Culture (SNC), the Paraguayan-German Cultural Institute (ICPA), the Paraguayan-American Cultural Center (CCPA) and the Guaraní Hotel.
