asthma is an inflammatory lung disease that can cause symptoms ranging from mild to severe. Most often, asthma symptoms can be controlled by avoiding triggers, using daily medications along with other therapist optionsics. The term ” severe asthma refers to asthma that remains uncontrolled despite treatment. The term includes in particular the asthma of patients who have suspended their treatments due to a lack of response. Severe asthma is a heterogeneous condition that includes phenotypes such as eosinophilic asthmas or eosinophilic asthma.
The World Health Organization classifies severe asthma into three distinct categories : untreated asthma, difficult-to-treat asthma and treatment-resistant asthma.
L’initiative GINA Global Initiative for Asthma was started in 1993 by the World Health Organization, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the National Institutes of Health. The GINA report, titled “ Global Strategy for the Management and Prevention of Asthma has become a valuable resource for healthcare professionals around the world who seek out the latest recommendations on asthma management.
