Sexual assault, abuse of power, sexism or even moral harassment. Last week, our colleagues from Le Soir revealed the toxic climate reigning within the Brussels Conservatory. They collected testimonies from 19 people targeting three teachers.
One of the cases notably targets a professor who allegedly offered massage sessions to several female students. Jacquelin Bollen, Professor at the Conservatory, confided his relief at seeing this affair break out to RTBF: “It’s been going on for years. I’m glad it’s finally coming out. Not all facts are on the same level. Some are more serious than others. This is the case of this body training teacher who offered massages to students”. A discussion would have taken place with the two other professors concerned according to the Conservatory.
This Thursday, around fifty students met in a general assembly, supported by the Conservatory Student Council. Boycotting classes, students denounce a lack of reaction from their management despite numerous testimonies.
