Exposing the Truth: The Misleading Immigration Figures and Their Impact on Canada’s Labor Market

2023-08-17 04:00:00

Official immigration figures are totally misleading.

For Canada, we convey the famous 500,000 annual newcomers trumpeted by the Trudeau government.

In fact, in 2022, nearly one million permanent and temporary immigrants have entered, and many of these “temporaries” will become permanent.

In proportion to its population, Canada is more than first in the world. He’s definitely in another galaxy.

Never enough

Same sleight of hand in Quebec.

The official figure is around 50,000 per year.

In fact, almost 100,000 people arrived between July 2021 and June 2022 if you add the “temporaries” (students, agricultural workers, specialized workers, asylum seekers, etc.), many of whom will be scrambling to stay and will succeed.

But for some, that’s still not enough. It will probably never be enough.

Who are these “some”? Essentially, two main categories of people are banging on the tom-tom of “always more, always more”.

On one side you have the bosses.

When a boss says “I can’t find anyone”, you have to decode. He is saying “I can’t find people at the price I would like to pay”.

I’m not claiming his portfolio is infinitely expandable.

But it’s taking us for idiots not to admit that the primary goal of always wanting more people from elsewhere is to exert downward pressure on wage increases.

Of course, foreign workers can solve the specific problem of company X at time Y.

But this causes problems for the rest of society (which X usually doesn’t give a damn regarding) since these foreigners will have to house themselves, get sick, send their children to school, etc., which will create pressure for more workers.

It is the hamster which turns in its wheel.

The other large category of people who plead for “always more” is this nebula of well-meaning people who have become accustomed to qualifying as the “woke left”.

She thinks that we would have a moral vocation to alleviate the misery of the whole world.

She thinks anyone who objects is a right-wing, even far-right, racist.

She looks away from countless studies that establish that immigration is not a miracle cure, that its contribution is limited, and that it sometimes poses cultural and social problems.

Irony

See the fabulous irony.

The traditional left fought once morest the bosses.

His fights gave us the minimum wage, the right to unionize, health insurance, more safety on construction sites, etc.

Historically, bosses have struggled once morest all of this, but eventually gave in.

The woke left always wants more immigrants who will mostly become low-wage workers, exactly what the bosses are asking for.

As one reader put it, the new left and the bosses are “sleeping together on this issue, but not for the same reasons.”

Comical, right?
