Kochi: Monsan Mavunkal, the accused in the fake antiquities fraud case, said that he will examine the footage of the Chief Minister’s office from 2018 to question whether he is related to the Chief Minister’s private secretary. “The court respects the verdict. CCTV footage from 2018 has it all. The footage collected by the police should not be lost. “K Sudhakaran has not taken money from him,” Monson told the media. The reaction came when Monson, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in the POCSO case, was being released from the Ernakulam POCSO court. There are indications that Monson will be shifted to Viyur.
Monsan Mavunkal, the accused in the fake antiquities fraud case, was sentenced to three life terms in the POCSO case. Out of this, two life sentences should be served till the end of life. Apart from this, the trial court also imposed a fine of Rs.5.25 lakh. The court also observed that the prosecution was able to prove all the charges leveled in the charge sheet. Crime Branch DySP Y. R. Rustam investigated the case and submitted the charge sheet. Monsan is the second accused in the POCSO case in which Joshi, Monsan’s manager, is the first accused.
The trial of the case was completed last day. Monson was granted bail in other cases but not in this case. The court found Monsan guilty under various sections (7,8) of the POCSO Act. Apart from this, sections like IPC 370 (detaining a minor girl), IPC 342 (unjust imprisonment), IPC 354 A (violent violence once morest a woman), IPC 376 (rape), IPC 313 (abortion of a woman without consent) and IPC 506 (intimidation) were also imposed. The special court has charged Monson with 13 sections under the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act.
