The organization “Save the Children” (Save the Children) reveals that there are 16 million child laborers in the world.
This information was given by this organization in connection with the observance of Anti-Child Labor Day on 12th June every year.
This year is the 22nd Child Labor Day. According to Save the Children, these 16 crore children are between the ages of 7 and 17. The organization also reveals that almost half of them i.e. 7 crore 90 lakh are employed in sectors that are hazardous to their health, mental and moral development.
Although most countries of the world have signed and ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Convention of the International Labor Organization, child labor is still widespread. Therefore, Save the Children says that a concerted effort is needed once morest this.
Balewala is a violation of children’s right to be protected from economic exploitation, hazardous occupations, denial of education, and threats to their health, mental, spiritual, moral and social status.
