Dominican prospect Luis Nuñez (15-0, 11 KOs) will face undefeated Puerto Rican Carlos Arrieta (14-0, 8 KOs) in a 10-round super featherweight matchup, in what will be the stellar contest of the ShoBox: The feature. New Generation this Friday, January 7, on Showtime at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida. In the co-feature of the evening, Starling Castillo (16-0, 12 KOs) faces Otar Eranosyan (10-0, 6 KOs) in an eight-round lightweight fight. Additionally, Edwin De Los Santos (13-0, 12 KOs) faces William Foster III (13-0, 9 KOs) in an eight-round super featherweight fight. The evening, promoted by Sampson Boxing, will take place this Friday, January 7, at 6 pm Pacific Time at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida.
This Friday, Nuñez registered 128 1/4 pounds, followed by Arrieta with 129 1/4 pounds at the weigh-in ceremony.
The three fights have a combined record of 80 fights won, no losses, as well as 57 knockouts. In the 20-year history of Showtime’s ShoBox evenings, this is the first time there will be a feature featuring undefeated champions in all three major contests.
Nuñez, originally from Puerto Plata, was a member of the Dominican Republic national team and dabbled in professionalism from the age of 18. Two years later, he made his US debut by beating Jayvon Gamett.
For his part, Arrieta also has a long amateur history, winning several national tournaments in his native Puerto Rico. The 27-year-old fighter debuted in 2015 and made his career mostly in Puerto Rico, until he debuted in 2020 in the United States. His last outing was once morest Julio Buitrago with a six-round unanimous decision win.
