For four days now, the residents of Heerban in Stal (Beringen, in Limburg) have been living in anguish. An anguish that began last Friday when they heard, for the first time, explosions in their street. Facts which have been repeated daily since then.

The procedure is always the same: every evening, between 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., a car passes in their street and one of the occupants throws an explosive through the window which then causes the detonation. “We think it is an old car, Mercedes or Volkswagen. We don’t have a license plate. We want to know who is behind all this,” explains to Belang van Limburg a local resident who captured the vehicle in question on video surveillance images.

Informed since Sunday evening, the police were unable to find the perpetrators. “Each time, we went to the scene to patrol, but we found no one,” explains Katrien De Clercq, from the Beringen/Ham/Tessenderlo police. No witnesses. No plaque. Nothing that allows people to be identified.

Although the investigation continues to identify them, local residents now live with fear. “Each time, between 8 and 9 p.m., we are surprised by loud detonations,” Christel tells our Flemish colleagues. “The first night my husband and I went out to take a look. As we thought it was a car accident and my husband is a firefighter, we wanted to help. But when we came out, all we saw was a lot of smoke. »

Worried, she does not hide her fear. “We are afraid, yes; we no longer go out at night. Especially not following midnight, when the public lighting is off (…) I hope that there will be light soon and that these bombs will stop.”
