So far no leaks of dangerous products or substances have been reported.

A series of explosions at the Dow Chemical Facility chemical plant caused panic in Iberville Parish, Louisiana (United States) on Friday night.

The flames affected homes located several kilometers away.

Despite multiple explosions, no chemical leaks were reported.

As reported by Iberville Sheriff Brett Stassi, six explosions were detected at the facility around 9:30 p.m. Both plant personnel and firefighters managed to control the flames around 11:00 p.m.

Security officials issued a shelter-in-place order to all residents within a mile of the plant as there was “imminent danger.”

“The Fire Unit is cooling the tanks in the area where the fire occurred and they still tell us that no one was hurt,” Stassi said some thirty minutes following the incident.

Plant officials said all employees were accounted for and no injuries were reported.

Kenneth Haydel, a citizen who lives with his family, said he heard several explosions within seconds of each other. “We looked up at the sky and the whole sky was lit up orange,” he told the media.
