Qalyubia – Osama Abdel Rahman:

A number of eyewitnesses to the explosion of 3 sewage stations in Al-Khanka, Al-Marj, and Al-Khos revealed that the sound of the explosion caused a taxi and a number of facades of houses adjacent to the stations to shatter.

One of the eyewitnesses said, in statements to “Masrawy,” that we lived in a state of terror and heard three explosions behind each other and a very large earthquake to the point that we felt that the house would collapse on us, and the smoke was thick and everywhere, and the window glass was shattered.

For his part, Engineer Adel Hassan, head of the Cairo Sanitation Company, confirmed that the fire occurred as a result of a leakage of petroleum materials into the sewage tunnel. The fires were controlled in cooperation with the Civil Defense, and there were no casualties. The material losses are being assessed, and the stations are currently operating efficiently without affecting the service. Provided to citizens.

While the inspection revealed a gas leak in the 1200 m sewer line of the petroleum companies in the Greater Cairo sewer lines via pipelines, the sewer lines were mixed with petroleum materials, which led to the leak and a fire at the station, and the fire was controlled, especially in the gas station.

It turned out that Al-Khosos station, which witnessed the incident, serves Al-Qalaj and Al-Marj stations, and when a leak occurred in the station, it affected the rest, and 60% of the station was operated.

The Qalyubia Governorate Operations Room received a report of a fire at sewage stations. Upon inspection, it was found that the explosion occurred at 3 sewage stations in Al-Qalaj, Al-Khoss, and New Marj. These stations are affiliated with the Greater Cairo Sanitation Authority.

4 ambulances were sent, and 5 people were found injured and were taken to Al-Khanka and Al-Salam Hospital. A report was drawn up on the incident and an investigation is underway by the relevant agencies.

Civil protection forces succeeded in controlling the fire and preventing it from spreading to neighboring areas.
