Explosion of mud and rocks surprises and sends visitors running in Yellowstone

WASHINGTON.— A hydrothermal explosion in the Yellowstone National Park The storm sent rocks and debris tumbling down Tuesday, forcing tourists to seek shelter and authorities to close the recreation area, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.

Tourists who were at the site captured the phenomenon with their cameras. The images show a tall column of mud and debris that forced the visitors to run that were on a dock.

The explosion occurred near Sapphire Pool, a hot spring pool in Biscuit Basin Located just over three kilometers from the famoso geyser Old Faithfuland Wyoming.

Yellowstone National Park officials were forced to close the park’s parking lot and boardwalks. Biscuit Basin temporarily for the safety of visitors.

The agency added that its geologists investigate the explosionFor its part, the National Park has not said when it will reopen the area to tourists again.
