Three people have lost their lives and four others are missing following an explosion in a coal mine in Colombia. foreign media write that the accident happened in the municipality of Cucunuba, regarding 90 kilometers north of the capital Bogota.
From the images published on social networks, you can see the smoke coming out of the mine and people in civilian clothes approaching with flashlights.
According to Nicolas Garcia, a self-government official, the explosion occurred in an underground gallery that connects the El Roble and El Manto mines. It is unclear at this stage whether they were acting legally or illegally.

Among other things, it was clarified that the accident happened in “an area where permission was given for traditional mining activity”, but the authorities are still trying to verify if the “exploitation conditions” were respected.
An ongoing investigation is expected to clarify the causes of the explosion, however, according to the mayor of Cukunuba, Jose Martinez, the initial hypothesis is that it was caused by a concentration of gas./abcnews.al
