At least one person has died and three more have been injured this Wednesday due to an explosion at a Toyota factory in the city of Bolognaaccording to local media reports.
The explosion occurred at a ‘Toyota Material Handling‘ plant, dedicated to the manufacture of machinery for handling goods of the Japanese group, near the Bologna airport. The impact was felt in nearby towns such as Calderara di Reno.

The mayor of Calderara di Reno, Giampero Falzone, reported on his social networks that “the situation could be very serious” and that firefighters, members of the Carabinieri (militarized police) and emergency services have already arrived at the site.
“It seems that there is one victim and at least three seriously injured and they have begun to verify if there are people under the ruins,” said the councilor.
The explosion occurred in the middle of the afternoon, around 5:30 p.m. local time (3:30 p.m. GMT), at a company facility, apparently due to the explosion of a compressor that caused the roof to collapse, according to local press reports.
The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Galeazzo Bignami, expressed his sadness at this accident and sent his condolences and support to the relatives of the deceased.
