In Châtelineau, the coal mining of the Gouffre, also known as the coal mining of shaft number ten, arouses many comments. Hunted by urbex enthusiasts who have made it one of the most popular spots in Belgium, these impressive and grandiose ruins sometimes inspire legends, fear or curiosity. Some believe that it is quiet enough and that it is remote enough to come and pile up their rubbish there.
