Jiang Xiaodong, director of the Provincial Drug Administration, went to Shanghai to exchange and study the new ecology of the development of the pharmaceutical industry
Recently, in order to thoroughly implement our province’s deployment requirements for building a strategic pillar industrial cluster of biomedicine and health, better leverage the functions and professional advantages of the drug regulatory department, and accelerate the high-quality development of the province’s pharmaceutical industry, Jiang Xiaodong, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Bureau of the Provincial Drug Administration, led a team to Shanghai to conduct field research. Yan Zhen, a member of the party group and deputy director of the Provincial Drug Administration, and the main responsible comrades of the Administrative Licensing Department, the Provincial Drug Inspection Institute, and the Provincial Evaluation and Certification Center participated in the investigation.
The research team visited the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Zhangjiang Science City, WuXi AppTec and Shanghai Pharmaceutical Group, and had discussions with the Shanghai Municipal Drug Administration, focusing on in-depth discussions on innovative measures to promote the high-quality development of the pharmaceutical industry, drug regulatory informationization, and drug regulatory technical support capacity building. During the period, the research team participated in the National Conference on the Scientific Supervision of Traditional Chinese Medicine to gain a comprehensive understanding of the new developments in Chinese medicine supervision and industrial development.
As a highland for the development of the national biopharmaceutical industry, Shanghai has a high degree of maturity in the innovation chain, industrial chain, capital chain, and talent chain, with excellent infrastructure throughout the entire process of drug R&D, production, circulation, and use, strong policy support, and strong integration of industry and finance. In recent years, Shanghai has issued a series of policies and measures such as “Several Opinions on Promoting the High-quality Development of the Biomedical Industry”, established a biomedical fund, and a biomedical innovation transformation fund to form a “tropical rainforest-style” industrial innovation and development ecology. For a long time, the Shanghai Municipal Drug Administration has continued to increase system innovation, service innovation and regulatory innovation, promote the transformation of research and development results and industrial implementation, and the modernization level of drug supervision has been continuously improved. Guangdong has further promoted the comprehensive reform of drug supervision, built a demonstration zone for drug safety governance and high-quality industrial development, and implemented 221 comprehensive reform projects, injecting strong momentum into the work of drug supervision in the new era. The in-depth exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong and Shanghai will continue to enrich the practice of Chinese-style modern drug supervision and further accelerate the high-quality development of cross-regional integration of the pharmaceutical industry.
