If there is a city that is well highlighted in the series, it is New York. Already, very young, I dreamed of it while looking Fame, The Cosby Show and the Talk Shows late evenings. Then Friends, Sex and the City, The Sopranos and so many others who proved to us that the Big Apple was in a class of its own, a city that moves, a city where everything is possible. As evidenced by these ten series.

Impossible to talk regarding New York without mentioning Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha (in Sex and the City) who exposed us to their relationships, their sex life, their friendship and their unconditional love for their city. Samantha lives in the Meatpacking District, Miranda on the Upper West Side, Charlotte lives at 930 Park Avenue and Carrie lives on the Upper East Side (73rd Street). But in fact, the facade used for this mythical apartment that she also finds in And Just Like That is located at 66 Perry Street, corner of Bleecker Street in the West Village. They frequent all the fashionable restaurants (Lumi, Buddakan, the Carlyle Hotel and Baccart Hotel bar, Magnolia Bakery, Soho House, the Moma restaurant, Poppi, KYU). They shop at Bloomingdales, Barneys, Manolo Blahnik and all designers on Madison Avenue. The fountain at Columbus Circle, the Plaza and the New York Public Library are also notable scenes.

Charles, Oliver and Mabel live in the same building on the Upper West Side. A murder and their shared passion for crime stories lead them to investigate and document everything in a podcast. The building where our three companions reside, The Arconia, is actually The Belnord located at 225 West 86th Street, near Broadway. As for the Pickle Diner where our protagonists often meet, we recognize it at the Mansion Restaurant (1635 York Ave).

We follow the hard struggle of the children of the Roy family and their patriarch, Logan, to gain access to the management of the media company Waystar RoyCo. The characters advance through betrayals, disappointments and fleeting victories in a New York where big business is happening. Among the prestigious places, note the lobby of the American Irish Historical Society on Fifth Avenue which acts as the entrance to the sumptuous residence of Logan Roy. His empire’s offices have been recreated in vacant spaces in Buildings 4 and 7 of the World Trade Center. When he separates, Kendall finds himself in a huge apartment in the Woolworth Building, 2 Place Park in Tribeca, and it is in an artistic development center, The Shed, that he celebrates his 40th birthday in style.

In terms of attachment to the city, this series closely follows Sex and the City. Teenagers from wealthy families see their daily life told by a vlogger who has fun highlighting their vulnerabilities. It was at the very beginning of the social media era. It is easy for a good sum of money to stay where Serena (Palace Hotel which is actually called The Lotte New York Palace) and Chuck (The Empire Hotel) live. The iconic steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art led people to believe they were in front of Constance Billard & St. Jude’s Colleges, schools that hide behind the facade of the Museum of the City of New York. It is at Grand Central Terminal that the series begins with the return of Serena. Butter and Gramercy Tavern are Blair’s favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, his favorite boutique, Henri Bendel, has closed. Central Park, Empire State Building, La Duration and The Russian Tea Room also served as the backdrop for many scenes.

Jessa likes to take a whote russian at Tom & Jerry’s (288 Bar in Nolita). It is at Cafe Grumpy that Ray works and that Hannah will have a job.

The series, which is in its 5th season, begins in the 1950s. Midge Maisel is a housewife who decides to emancipate herself by doing stand-up. The stage becomes his place of demands. One of the first scenes in the series takes place at Lutzi’s Butcher Shop in Nolita, a real butcher’s shop that goes by the name of Albanese Meats. When she discovers that her husband is cheating on her, Midge takes refuge in the Gaslight Cafe in Greenwich Village. This is where she will make her stage debut. The real name of the business: The Up & Up (116 MacDougal St). La Bonbonnière (28, 8th Ave) in the West Village lends its features to diner City Spoon where Midge often goes to take a snack, including when she leaves prison. In order to recreate the subways of the time, scenes were filmed at the New York Transit Museum.

The daily life of six friends in their twenties has pleased millions of television viewers, even rallying a new generation. Although the series is filmed in a studio in Los Angeles, the exterior of Rachel and Monica’s (as well as Chandler and Joey’s) apartment remains a heavily photographed location. It is located at 90 Belford Street, in the West Village. A cafe is located on the ground floor reminiscent of the famous Central Perk. Recall that Ross works at the Museum of Natural History while Rachel has worked at Bloomingdale’s, Sak’s and Ralph Lauren.

First, the novel was set in London, then the film moved to Chicago and the TV series takes place in Brooklyn. We follow the daily life of a record store in a vinyl store whose romantic relationships are chaotic. The action takes place mainly in the Crown Heights area of Brooklyn. The charming record store, Champiship Vinyl, was located at 1475 Bedford Avenue in an old hardware store. The Allied bar is also fictional and is located at 1457 Bedford, still. However, you will see a travel agency there, Allied Travel. Rob’s (Zoë Kravitz) apartment is at 615 Lincoln Place.
