Louis Michel was interviewed in the show Face à Buxant this Sunday on RTL TVI. The former elected representative of the Reform Movement (MR) was notably invited to react to statements by Bart De Wever.
A few days ago, the president of the Flemish nationalist party N-VA was himself interviewed. Here is what he said regarding possible confederalism and Paul Magnette, president of the Socialist Party: “The PTB is there to bludgeon him, Georges-Louis Bouchez is there to bludgeon him, that I understand, he does not want to be treated as a traitor. But I remember all our talks in 2020 in Antwerp. On July 11 in Antwerp, we had a fairly open discussion on this“.

Louis Michel: Mr. Magnette and Mr. De Wever went very far in an agreement, which would in fact separate the country and which would in this case throw Wallonia into extreme poverty. No specialist, moreover, can deny this. Wallonia alone, Wallonia outside of national solidarity, would have great difficulty surviving. I do not understand the complacency Mr. Magnette had when he discussed it at such length with Mr. De Wever. Today, Mr. De Wever knows very well that he has an ally in the PS. We will perhaps pay for a post of Prime Minister for Mr. Magnette at the price of the misfortune of the Walloons.
Remember that Paul Magnette did not clearly recognize having negotiated confederalism with Bart De Wever in 2020. At the time, the co-president of Ecolo had, however, also accused the two men of having prepared confederalism during their mission as “preformers”. “It was the antechamber of confederalism. We spoke of a two-headed and three-headed entity for different matters: justice, police, security, interior, employment“, reacted Jean-Marc Nollet, interviewed on La Première in August 2020.
