Exploring the Controversial EVRAS Program: Perspectives, Debates, and Insights

2023-09-15 14:29:00

The relational, emotional and sexual life education program (Evras) was adopted by the Federation Parliament last week. However, these five initials triggered the anger of certain citizens. At the time of the vote, hundreds of people notably gathered in front of Parliament displaying slogans like “Don’t touch our children”, “no to EVRAS” or even “EVRAS = perverts”.

On Wednesday, four schools in Charleroi were set on fire by the small group “No Evras”. Acts described as “barbarians” by Mayor Paul Magnette and who “deeply shocked” Prime Minister Alexander de Croo. This Friday, it was the province of Liège which was affected by these anti-Evras actions: two schools were vandalized in Xhovémont and Naniot.

Faced with the anger and incomprehension surrounding this subject, the LN24 program ““It’s necessary that we speak” received six guests to debate Evras. Will be present on the set: Quentin de Bodman, founder and Representative of parents of students on the “EVRAS committee” of a free school in Brussels, Anne Schaub-Thomas psychologist – child and adult psychotherapist, but also the child psychiatrist Sophie Dechêne, the independent journalist for Médor and Les Grenades Jehanne Bergé, the study manager at the Secular Action Center Lionel Rubin and finally Khadija Ounchif member of the board of directors of AWSA-BE (Arab Women’s Solidarity Association – Belgium).

The show can be seen once more on the LN24 replay.
