More sober than the Brussels Art Nouveau à la “Horta”, the architecture of Charleroi is rather inspired by Paul Hanker. At Boulevard Solvay number 7, we remain speechless in front of the Lafleur housealso built in 1908, is the first house which was listed in Charleroi in 1989. The stained glass above the windows and doors depicts in a stylized way a naked woman’s back with flowers at the bottom of the loins.
