This year, Lyudmila from Kaliningrad lived in Germany for several months. Berlin, Hamburg, Rostock, Wismar – a dozen German cities left a lot of impressions, and not only with their sights. The main thing in any trip is people. Especially the uncommon ones.
For the Germans, the main criterion in clothing is practicality, so they prefer a comfortable casual style. In winter, the wardrobe is rather dull, it is slightly brightened up by multi-colored socks, scarves and rubber boots – the latter are worn in any weather. With the onset of warm weather, the palette of street fashion nevertheless began to change – colorful skirts and blouses appear. And not only on women. Your attention – the top German dudes, regarding which one wants to say: “Well, you girls, give!”
1. Romantic lady in lace
- The outfit is thought out to the smallest detail: the handbag and sundress are made of identical fabric, they are complemented by black ballet flats, lace and a turtleneck.
2. Italian beauty
- A colorful two-meter Frau in wide palazzo trousers chooses sunglasses in a Berlin shop.
3. A white skirt
- A white pleated skirt does not go well with a blue windbreaker and black tights, but for a provincial Rostock it will do.
4. Everything is openwork!
- One might doubt the gender identity of a person, but a man’s Adam’s apple and a voice cannot be hidden under fishnet stockings.
“Not as cool as it looks”
Recently, one of the topics for discussion in German society has become gender identity.
“No matter what commercials or TV shows, you will definitely see drag queens (artists, usually men, using female images), followers of Conchita Wurst or fighters for the abolition of gender. And an engineer with many children, Mark Bryan, who flaunts stilettos and skirts, is a real national hero! The happy husband, father and grandfather decided to do something weird – he began to go to work in women’s clothes, and he became famous for that.
Even 20 years ago, Lyudmila recalls, in public saunas and baths in Germany there were no concepts of “M” and “F” familiar to us: everyone was splashing naked together.
“And now it is also allowed to swim topless in the pools of Cologne and Berlin. The dress code is panties, and bras are only for those who identify themselves with “F”. The fruits of such a policy are already evident. In schoolyards (the Germans are still studying in June) you see crowds of children of indeterminate sex. Hairstyles and clothes are not an indicator. Once my grandson was playing on the playground, a four-year-old girl approached him, judging by the clothes and hair. I ask what is your name? The answer killed on the spot: “Daniel, but I love it when my name is Diana!” So uncles in skirts are not as cool as they seem, ”says Lyudmila.
