The Stoclet Palace is one of the jewels of Art Nouveau on avenue de Tervueren, in Brussels, an exhibition is currently dedicated to its Austrian architect Joseph Hoffmann, at the Royal Museums of Art and History, with a 3D reconstruction. It’s a way of discovering the place as it was in 1911, at the time of construction. The family opposed it for a long time, but an agreement was reached.

It is an exceptional building, it is an architectural manifesto, at the transition between the 19th century and the 20th century. It is also a building of incredible luxury: everything is in marble, with semi-precious pieces in the walls, all the tableware is in silver“, explains Guy Conde-Reis, Urban Brussels curator. On the wall of the dining room there is the greatest work by Gustav Klimt, the other Viennese.

Without having had access to the Palais Stoclet, ULB architects Jean Trottet and David Lo Buglio have reconstructed a virtual tour of the building using plans and photos: “We are trying to bring this building back to life as it was in 1911.“, they explain.

Negotiations with the family are continuing so that this architectural gem finally opens its doors to the public.
