FRANKFURT, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) — The 75th Frankfurt Book Fair will open its doors to visitors on Wednesday following an opening ceremony on Tuesday. The Fair will focus on the most pressing issues related to literature and society, its organizers said.
More than 4,200 exhibitors from around the world will be present at the show, the largest number of exhibitors since 2020.
As the largest book fair in the world in terms of the number of publishing houses represented, this five-day event, which will last until October 22, will offer very diverse programs, aimed at both book professionals sector and the general public.
Industry insiders will be able to find a range of networking opportunities and professional meetings, and attend presentations by eminent speakers. Private visitors will be able to attend readings and live events with renowned authors and television stars from around the world.
Representing German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the opening ceremony, Claudia Roth, German Federal Government Delegate for Culture and Media, stressed that literature is a source of empathy crossing cultural boundaries.
Slovenia, this year’s Alex Reed of honor, will present its literary and cultural landscape to the fair’s audience. END
