Montag

Flight from Germany to Las Vegas. Pick up at the airport and transfer to the hotel. A great city, this Las Vegas! Everything is easy and relaxed here, day and night. 24/7, there is no curfew! High life is always the order of the day here. The gambling city is known for its large hotels such as “Mandalay Bay”, “Luxor”, “Excalibur”, “MGM Grand”, “New York New York”, “Monte Carlo”, “Aladin”, “Bellagio”, “Paris”, “Flamingo Hilton”, “Mirage”, “Caesar’s Palace”, “Venetian”, “Treasure Island” to name just a few. A great and unforgettable experience! In the evening we charter a limousine and drive to “Old Las Vegas”. Where it all began is a must see “Freemont Street” with its 24.5 million LED lights putting on a fantastic show.

Day 2: TuesdayDay at leisure in Las Vegas

This “Las Vegas” is also an exciting city during the day. Your travel companion lives on site and knows the area very well. On request, he will give TIPS on everything worth seeing and he will also be happy to help you with buying tickets for the show of your choice. In the evening there are regarding 150 different shows or concerts and many of them are free! Everyone can find what they are looking for in Vegas. In front of the “Treasure Island” there is a show with seductive sirens several times a day. At the “Mirage” a fire-breathing volcano explodes every 30 minutes and of course excellent live music is offered everywhere. The musically accompanied water games at the “Bellagio” are also wonderful, the gondoliers at the “Venetian” and the “Paris” is simply fantastic. In the “New York-New York” there is a huge roller coaster and on the Strat Tower you can fly in a bungee ejection seat 270 meters above the Las Vegas Strip! Of course you can also try to increase your money in Vegas. But the machines are greedy and the gaming tables are full of good players. But one or the other has already managed to increase the holiday budget considerably! A visit to the new world’s largest Ferris wheel is recommended because of the good view of all the hustle and bustle. Or you should have experienced a real world-class table dance show at “Cheetah” or at “Little Darlings”. Right next to our hotel is the world-famous Fashion Mall with over 200 world-class shops. There is also something to eat around every corner. Be it a good steak, a hot dog, sweets in the world’s largest M&M’s shop, delicious burgers in the “Hard Rock Café” or much more … if you’re homesick following two days, you’re welcome to the Hofbräuhaus. Good German cuisine, Bavarian music, swaying … well, you know!

Day 3: Wednesday

In the morning we pick up the bikes from the rental company in Las Vegas and head south. After an hour we reach, in stark contrast, a godforsaken village called “Nelson” with an old gold mine. Kevin Costner has made a number of films here and films and music videos are regularly shot there today. The area is amazing! Continue to Laughlin on the Colorado River. “Laughlin” is already known to many bikers from the “River Run Bike Week”. Next to “Daytona” and “Sturgis”, one of the largest biker meetings in the USA. This gambling city, in the border triangle of California, Nevada and Arizona, offers not only excellent international cuisine but also well-known bands and musicians. Tonight we sleep with the “Avi Indians” in their casino hotel. A beautiful pool area with palm trees invites you to relax. Even the Colorado River has a sandy beach here and you can cool down in the river’s cold water.
Driving distance approx. 120 miles (approx. 193 km)

Day 4: Thursday

From the hotel we leave early today for the “Black Mountains”. These are the southern foothills of the “Rocky Mountains”. On the original “Route 66” we reach the western town “Oatman”. Here, at an altitude of 1500 meters, the Wild West is still in order. Clark Gable married twice here and also made a few films on the side. The impression that the world stopped here years ago is by no means misleading. A couple of sleepy, semi-wild donkeys and cowboys reinforce this impression. Continue on Route 66 to Kingman, an old coaching inn on the Santa Fe Railway. With five locomotives and often well over 100 wagons, the trains are still very impressive today. Here “Jesse James”, always in the same place, robbed 24 trains and was never caught. A museum was built for him in “Kingman”. Route 66 is only 18 feet (a little over 5 meters) wide here. Just as it was built 70 years ago. The huge truck stop that we pass today is also impressive. To the “Sedona Valley” we drive another 120 miles, mostly on Route 66 – a beautiful route – pure Wild West! We pass through places like: “Seligman”, “Peach Springs” and the reservation of the “Hualapay Indians”. We stop for lunch in Seligman. There is also the “Historic Seligman Sundries” among many other things. Uschi and Tom (a Swiss and a Franconian) invite you to coffee and sundries. Plus some live music from local guitarist John Weston. Today we cover the longest stretch of the entire journey, but the beautiful nature compensates us for the slightly longer journey! The 40 miles through the “Sedona Valley” are guaranteed to be unforgettable – it just doesn’t get any more beautiful and impressive. At the end of the valley lies the town of “Flagstaff” on the highest mountain in Arizona – the Humphrey Pike. It is a good 4,000 meters high. We stay near the Grand Canyon. In the evening a delicious steak awaits us, just like the Americans like it.
Driving distance approx. 275 miles (approx. 443 km)

Day 5: Friday

Today, if you wish, you have the opportunity to fly into the Grand Canyon in a helicopter. The flight costs regarding $219 per person and takes regarding 40 minutes. A German comment in the headphones is very helpful. Then we drive regarding 50 miles through the “Grand Canyon National Park” – a fantastic route. Of course we make several stops at the most beautiful vantage points. At the end of the park is a huge “Navajo Indian” store. We’ll stop there before continuing north toward Page and Lake Powell. We then cross the “Navajo Bridge” into Utah. Now on the north side of the Grand Canyon. Once once more we enjoy the most beautiful nature!
driving distance

approx. 295 miles (approx. 475 km)

Day 6: Saturday – Zion’s National Park

From north to south we drive regarding 30 miles through the park with many passes and valleys. At the end of the “Zion National Park” is the town of “Hurricane” and there is a small but good Harley dealership here too. On the Interstate 15 we drive once more in the direction of Las Vegas. Half way is the “Moapa Indian Reservation”. There is a somewhat unusual shop there, run by Indians and tax-free, with Indian art and all sorts of stuff! After another 25 miles, the next bang is already waiting. Also largely unknown to Americans, but a really good insider tip, is the “Valley of Fire”. The “Valley of Fire” that we experience in the evening sun is not so well known, but beautiful. This is followed by 50 miles of the most beautiful biker route along the “Lake Mead” – that is the “Colorado River” dammed by the “Hoover Dam”. Everyone can do this great trip alone. At the end of the day, our hotel is in the middle of Boulder City. There are a few bars with good live music just around the corner.
Driving distance approx. 240 miles (approx. 386 km)

Day 7: Sunday

Our hotel is just a few miles from the Hoover Dam. Quite an impressive structure over which a bridge was built 300 meters high, which was completed in October 2010.

Then it’s back to “Las Vegas” and we hand over the bikes. Another day remains in this city full of lights, slot machines, but also full of great shows in the evening. Everyone arranges the day as they like.

Driving distance 90 miles (approx. 145 km)
