Is your GTA Online account at risk? An apparently recently discovered exploit in GTA 5/GTA Online might allow a hacker to damage in-game files or delete your player account. Money, cars, real estate and more would be gone overnight. How big is the concern?

An online game as big as GTA Online is not without its dangers! There have been hacks, exploits and more in recent years, but a new exploit in GTA Online is likely to be more serious than anything we’ve seen before. Now a special warning goes out to PC gamers!

A new Twitter post by Tez2 reads: “New extreme exploits have emerged that allow scammers to remotely access, remove or modify your stats and permanently corrupt your account.”

What should you watch out for? In principle, every PC gamer can be affected. Floorball tweets: “It appears your account is being ‘corrupted’ due to the recent RCE exploit on PC. Essentially, attempting to enter online will leave you stuck in the clouds indefinitely. – Now avoid GTA Online on PC.”

What’s even worse than losing your player account in the game: access to your own PC. According to anti-cheat experts, there is a possibility that PC files can also be removed. The issue appears to be related to the possible incorrect use of the Guardian anti-cheat tool.

The Twitter video above Floorball shows the effects of corrupting your account. The broken accounts feature offered in the mod menu that originally caused this has since been removed, but there are many accounts already affected.

What can I do? TezFunz2 on Twitter advises removing the Rockstar Games folder from the documents and then reloading the game to fix the corruption.
