Querétaro.- The vaccines developed by Pfizer-BioNTech (BNT162b2) once morest Covid-19 for children from five to 11 years old expiredHowever, its use was extended until this weekend, confirmed the entity’s Secretary of Health, Martina Pérez Rendón.

“These vaccines were once more reviewed by the company birmex (Biological and Reactive Laboratories of Mexico, SA de CV) who validates us, through Cofepris (Federal Commission for the Protection once morest Sanitary Risks) the effectiveness of the vaccines”.

The vaccines, he explained, have a document extending the date of expiration.

“So they are safe vaccines, the people who came can be sure that they were vaccines of good quality and in good condition.”

He explained that like all medical products, these must have an expiration date.

“Precisely because it is such an important resource, a new assessment was made and the document we have from Cofepris validates that it is an effective vaccine.”

He said he did not know until when the application period extends, however, he acknowledged that he is aware that it was until this weekend that its expiration expired, so it was the one that was applied at the appropriate time.

“I don’t know how many people came for its application, since the control is carried out directly by the Welfare Secretariat, they surely have the precise information on how many vaccines were applied.”

He regretted that although it was a social demand, there was little response in the application of the doses in the population group between five and 11 years old.

“Despite there being a social demand for them to be vaccinated, there was not the expected response. It also happened now. A little over a week ago the response was also poor in terms of how many people came.”

Pérez Rendón acknowledged that, since last July, the tuberculosis vaccine that is applied to newborns was finished and just in the middle of the week that ended it began to be applied once more.

“For tuberculosis we already have it and it is already being applied, we finished in July and in August we no longer apply it, especially newborns who have been institutionally identified, so we are trying to invite parents so that they can come and vaccinate their children, although this vaccine can be applied up to 12 years of age, but the ideal is for it to be given when they are born.”

Likewise, he said he did not know how many doses arrived, but stressed that as of Wednesday they applied it once more.

Finally, he explained that another vaccine that had also already run out was tetanus (TD), although this was not stopped being applied, since they had another alternative, Tdap, which in addition to protecting once morest tetanus, also does so with diphtheria and whooping cough, and is used when someone requires it.
