A new high for new corona infections was reached on Thursday. How to proceed next week.
Now things are happening in rapid succession: On Thursday, a total of 43,053 new corona infections reported, more than at any time since the beginning of the pandemic. However, according to experts, the peak of the omicron wave may not have been reached yet.
Incidence soon over 3,000
The Covid forecast consortium assumes that the numbers will continue to rise. A 7-day incidence in the range of 2,400 to 3,900 cases is expected for February 2.

A 7-day incidence of over 5,200 or under 1,700 is also possible with a probability of 2.5 percent. The lowest incidence is expected in Lower Austria (1,800-2,900) and the highest incidence in Tyrol (3,000-4,900). The 7-day incidence in Austria is currently 2,264.5.
Experts expect 37,688 cases next Wednesday. In any case, a minimum of more than 30,000 officially confirmed infections per day can still be expected. In the worst case, according to the forecast consortium, almost 50,000 new infections are possible next Wednesday.
Hospital numbers will also increase
As a result, the number of hospitals will also increase once more. 287 patients are expected in the intensive care units by February 9th. On the normal wards there are 1,671.
