During the third edition of the Arab Media Congress which took place in Tunis, the experts present unanimously underlined the key role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the evolution of the media landscape, highlighting the multiple possibilities offered by this technology in content production and data analysis.
Fahd Harthi, President of the Arab States Radio Union (ASBU) and Executive Chairman of the Saudi Radio and Television Authority, highlighted the benefits of AI, highlighting its impact in news reporting content, personalization of experiences and big data analysis. He called for increased assimilation of AI, while emphasizing the importance of respecting the media industry’s core values, such as accuracy, honesty and objectivity.
Abdessamad Moutei, teacher-researcher at the Higher Institute of Information and Communication (ISIC) in Rabat, highlighted the applications of AI in the production of audiovisual content, highlighting their ability to facilitate the work of journalists and to encourage innovation and creativity. He highlighted the importance of intelligently integrating AI into content creation strategies, while respecting the deontological and ethical principles of the media.
Hans Hoffmann, Head of Communications Technologies at the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), highlighted the challenges of using data generated by radio and television channels, highlighting the need to establish a specific legal framework to govern this use.
Under the theme “Media in the era of Artificial Intelligence: opportunities and challenges”, this congress provided a platform for exchange and debate on the major challenges facing the Arab media. Among the topics covered were “the role of AI in the creation of multimedia content”, “AI and the media professions”, as well as “the technical and technological aspects of the use of Artificial Intelligence”.
ASBU, one of the oldest pan-Arab institutions, is committed to strengthening cooperation between broadcasters in Arab states, including Morocco, to improve the production and development of media content.
